ZHOU Xin

Professor Xin Zhou is the President of the Innovation Academy for Precision Measurement Science and Technology, CAS (formed by the integration of the former Wuhan Institute of Physics and Mathematics, CAS and the Institute of Geodesy and Geophysics, CAS).
Prof. Zhou led his group to develope the first clinical approved Human Lung Hyperpolarized Gas MRI Instrument, which enables to evaluate the regional ventilation, microstructure, and gas exchange ability of the lungs without radiation or invasion. Lung hyperpolarized gas MRI was applied in the Jin Yin-tan Hospital (Wuhan, China) and the Tongji Hospital for evaluating pulmonary injuries caused by the COVID-19 virus in discharged patients for the first time in the world. He also developed multi-nuclei MRI technologies and high sensitivity MRI contrast agents, which are expected to provide powerful technical support, new insights, and strategies for research on lung and brain critical disease. Lung hyperpolarized gas MRI won the CIIF award in the 22nd session China International Industry Fair (CIIF), and presented at the National “13th Five-Year” Science and Technology Innovation Achievement Exhibition.
Prof. Zhou is currently the Principal Investigator of major National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) projects, such as National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, Innovation Research Group Project, Major Instrument and Equipment Development Projects, and National Key Research and Development Program. He has been awarded many prizes and honors, including the Tianjuan Wang Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy Award, Top Ten National Science and Technology Innovative Person, the first Xplorer Prize and National Innovation Award. Prof. Zhou has published over 150 articles in academic journals, such as PNAS, Sci. Adv., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., JACS, IEEE, Magn. Reson. Med., etc. For more information, please visit his group website: www.zhougroup.org.
