Recently, the Hubei Research Institute for the Development Strategy of Engineering Science and Technology in China organized a pre-evaluation meeting for the key strategic consulting research project in Wuhan, China. The key project, led by Academician SUN Heping from the Innovation Academy for Precision Measurement Science and Technology(APM), was titled “Research on the Scientific and Technological Development Strategy and Path for Geological and Drought-Flood Disaster Prevention and Control in Hubei Province under the Great Protection of the Yangtze River”This project successfully passed the pre-conclusion review.
Attending the review as experts were Academician WANG Yanxin, President of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), DU Yun, Deputy Director of Department of Science and Technology of Hubei Province, YAO Yibin, Dean of the School of Geodesy and Geomatics at Wuhan University, SHENG Qian, Researcher at the Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, LUO Zhicai, Professor at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, LI Wei, Director of the National Engineering Research Center for Ecological Environment of the Yangtze River Economic Belt at China Three Gorges Corporation, ZHANG Jianqing, Chairman of the Yangtze Geophysical Exploration (Wuhan) Limited Company, and GENG Jianghui, Researcher from the Innovation Academy for Precision Measurement Science and Technology (APM). Also in attendance were Academician SUN Heping, LIU Xiaojun, Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Director, CAO Xiapeng, Project Manager from the Hubei Research Institute for the Development Strategy of Engineering Science and Technology in China, and other project team members. The meeting was co-chaired by Academician NI Sidao, Deputy Director of APM, and Academician WANG Yanxin, Head of the Expert Review Group.
On behalf of APM, LIU Xiaojun delivered a speech, warmly welcoming the academicians and experts to the project conclusion review meeting. He expressed gratitude to the Hubei Research Institute, a national high-end think tank, for its long-term support and trust in the Institute of Precision Measurement. Furthermore, he provided a detailed introduction to the experts on the progress of the four strategic consulting projects undertaken by the Institute in serving the high-quality development strategy of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and promoting advancements in aerospace technology and life sciences.
During the meeting, Academician SUN Heping, the project leader, presented a comprehensive report on the project, covering areas such as project background and significance, objectives, tasks, and completions, project achievements and impacts, strategies and paths for disaster prevention and mitigation using aerospace technology, project organization and management, and financial expenditure. The experts attending the meeting highly praised the work done by the project research team and the research results achieved. They unanimously believed that the project research was significant, strategic, and forward-looking. The research findings held important policy and decision-making support value for national and Hubei provincial disaster prevention and reduction technological innovation, as well as collaborative innovation and development in the "industry-academia-research-application" of aerospace technology. They recommended that the results should be quickly applied to the high-quality development strategy of the Yangtze River Basin, especially in Hubei Province, and to the scientific and efficient prevention and treatment of natural disasters. The experts agreed to pass the pre-evaluation of the project and recommended its conclusion.
Academician Sun Heping expressed his gratitude to the experts for their valuable opinions and suggestions. He also thanked all project team members, including researchers JIANG Liming and ZHOU Jiangcun, for their hard work and dedication. He pointed out that the project team would fully absorb the valuable opinions and suggestions proposed by the review experts, further refine the project research results, strengthen cooperation with relevant departments, and strive to promote the collaborative innovation and development of "industry-academia-research-application" in aerospace technology in Hubei Province. The Institute of Precision Measurement would organize relevant disciplines and research teams to make more contributions to disaster prevention and mitigation in Hubei Province.
The project "Research on the Scientific and Technological Development Strategy and Path for Geological and Drought-Flood Disaster Prevention and Control in Hubei Province under the Great Protection of the Yangtze River" is a consulting research project of the Hubei Research Institute for the Development Strategy of Engineering Science and Technology in China.
