From December 6th to 8th, the 2024 Annual Academic Conference of the Seismology Professional Committee of the China Geophysical Society (hereinafter referred to as the Professional Committee), as well as the Second Academic Seminar on "The Future of Seismology," was held in Wuhan, Hubei Province. This conference was hosted by the Seismology Professional Committee of the China Geophysical Society and organized by APM and the National Basic Science Center for "Earthquake Initiation, Propagation, and Mechanism." Participants included Academician XIE Shucheng of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academician DU Shigui of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Academician Ni Sidao, vice president of APM, CHENG Huihong, deputy director of the Earth Science Department of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, HU Min, deputy secretary-general of the China Geophysical Society, CUI Wenyue, division chief of the Science and Technology Department of the China Earthquake Administration, and over 120 experts and scholars from domestic universities, research institutes, and other institutions.

Academician XIE Shucheng of China University of Geosciences, Professor HUANG Qinghua of Peking University, Researcher CHEN Ling of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor WANG Yuming and Professor YAO Huajian of the University of Science and Technology of China, and Professor XIA Kaiwen of China University of Geosciences were invited to deliver keynote speeches at the conference. Experts in attendance conducted in-depth exchanges focusing on the two themes of "structure" and "seismic source," with report contents covering earthquake mechanisms, underground fine structures, volcanic seismology, as well as emerging fields such as glacial seismology and artificial intelligence seismology.

The successful holding of this conference provided a high-level academic exchange platform for experts and scholars in the field of seismology, further promoting innovation and development within the discipline. Through this conference, participants jointly discussed key issues and future development directions in seismological research, laying a solid foundation for enhancing academic levels and promoting the development of related scientific research work.
