The world’s first lung gas magnetic resonance imaging system has been approved for market launch

Time:2023-09-28
Recently, the innovative medical device - the magnetic resonance imaging system developed by the Innovation Academy for Precision Measurement Science and Technology (APM) has been approved for market launch by the National Medical Products Administration. This is currently the world’s first approved clinical multi-nuclear magnetic resonance imaging system that can be used for gas imaging, solving the problem of non-invasive and non-radiative precise detection of lung diseases.

Lung diseases pose a serious threat to the life and health of our people. At present, commonly used lung imaging examination equipment in clinical practice such as X-ray machines, CT, and PET all have ionizing radiation; magnetic resonance detection equipment has no ionizing radiation, but it cannot image the lung cavity. The multi-nuclear magnetic resonance imaging system that was approved this time and the medical xenon gas generator that was approved in 2020 have solved the above problems, achieving non-invasive, non-radiative detection, quantitative visualization evaluation of lung structure and function, and providing new instruments and new methods for early screening and treatment evaluation of lung diseases.

Medical Xenon Gas Generator

The ultra-sensitive magnetic resonance team of APM has made a comprehensive breakthrough in super-polarization technology for enhancing gas magnetic resonance signals, ultra-fast lung gas magnetic resonance imaging technology, and human multi-nuclear magnetic resonance imaging technology after more than ten years of tackling key problems. The human lung gas multi-nuclear magnetic resonance imaging system developed by the team consists of two core devices: “Medical Xenon Gas Generator (Model: verImagin VIP510)” and “Human Multi-Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Imaging System (Model: uMR 780(Xe))”, effectively solving the problem of weak magnetic resonance imaging signal caused by low gas density in lung detection, realizing the expansion of clinical single-nuclear to multi-nuclear magnetic resonance imaging system, making lung cavity image diagnosis from “invisible” to “clear”.

In September 2020, the core equipment “Medical Xenon Gas Generator” obtained the world’s first registration certificate for similar medical devices; on August 16, 2023, the multi-nuclear magnetic resonance imaging system was approved for market launch, becoming the world’s first clinical multi-nuclear magnetic resonance imaging product that can be used for gas imaging. At present, this system has been used in more than ten tertiary hospitals and scientific research units such as Beijing 301 Hospital, Shanghai Changzheng Hospital, Wuhan Jinyintan Hospital, Wuhan Tongji Hospital, Wuhan University Zhongnan Hospital, Hubei Provincial Tumor Hospital to carry out clinical application research.
